SH3 campaign crash
 

Hello all,

Like others I am having a ctd when trying to play a campaign. I start a new campaign and it loads to about 30% and then I get the ctd. I can play the training and single missions no problem. This happens with stock SH3 and with GWX. I have done a lot of googling and no luck so far. Thought maybe steam was the issue...or win 10...or a graphics issue...but haven't been able to nail it down. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you can't read the text hold down control key while turning mouse wheel forward increases text size

Thanks for the reply. I have tried moving the directory and the suggestions about the nvidia card settings. Tutorial and Single Missions still work ok but the campaign gets to about 30% still and ctd. I wonder if I tried using LSH mod pack if that would make a difference??

Hi Doctorwho4 when you downloaded the steam version of SH3 did you move it to C:\Games\SilentHunterIII and then run SH3 in a single mission this makes a SH3 Folder in your Documents for all your Campaign Patrol Saves
So when SH3 Stock works in single player move on to the single player Campaign
with just SH3 no Commander Mod and no Gwx if SH3 stock campaign works then we move on to GWX3


GWX3 Install in windows 10

this is how I did it for my SH3 GWX3 Campaign install
made a copy of my stock SH3 install then I pasted that SH3 Folder into another folder called WOLFPACK in my documents then copied & pasted all the GWX3 7 binfiles & the GWX3 exe file that I downloaded earlier and the 4gig patch for GWX3 launched the GWX exe it installed no Problems then enabled the 4gig patch then installed the jsgme mod enabler activated the mods I wanted to use
then I run GWX3 and tested a single player mission all worked ticks another box

now setting up the Commander mod 3.2 for GWX3
I installed to another folder in my Documents called WOLFPACK HQ I tried installing the commander mod in the default installation path C:/programe filesx86 didn't like it so put it in a new folder in documents called Wolfpack HQ then I placed the GWX3 Commander mod config file into my SilenthunterIII GWX3 Folder where my SH3 GWX install is located and ran it so it would allow the commander mod to talk to my SilenthunterIII GWX3 install it asks you where you your GWX3 Silent HunterIII is installed C:/Users/User/Documents/WOLFPACK
so all done i launched the Commander Mod fired up no problems picked my Uboat commander wave height seasonal days spent in port yada yada
then launched SH3 via Commander mod there i was in the SH3 uboat office picked my crew launched SH3 game fired up uboat docked at the dockside band playing all systems mormal jobs a gudun

Unfortunately I have had no luck so I did a refund on steam. I ordered a physical copy off of Amazon so I am hoping to have more luck with that one. Hopefully lol.
