I think this month'S patch armageddon is the worst I have exprienced so far, worse than the desastrous month of January with all that Spectre 1/2 and microcode stuff. It gets worse and worse, no end in sight. Two days ago, somebody issued this threat: >>>Microsoft is implementing a new cloud-based logic for the Windows Update system, in order to avoid unexpected updates when you really need to get work done on your computer. The update utilizes a predictive model that will improve over time in order to better understand when you are going to use your device. This way, Windows can make sure it’s not disrupting your work and install the update when you are actually expecting it to. It will consider contextual things like if you were currently using your device before restarting or try to predict when you move from your device to grab a coffee, etc.<<< LINK Thats a threat in my book, not an announcement. More of their brilliant ####, inclduing cloud and AI and external control and AI judgement of what is good for me. Worse and worse and worse and worse it gets. Microsoft's idea of the uniworse. |
Well, they are now one of the great data stealers, also in a wider international frame.. question is which innovative company can afford spyware in their house? And let's be clear who gets those data.
Also I am not exactly happy with our 'old' company's computer system either. So many bugs, breakdowns, and inexplicable problems. And this is the 2008 R2 server, with Exchange 2010 and Win7 clients.. i don't want to know what happens with Win10. Not that a company can afford this expensive crap anymore  On the other hand.. all want to work with this. Giving away the stuff for free e.g. for students some decades ago has paid out. |
@Skybird: Then stop using it. Nothing's stopping you.

Everyone has the right to choose what operating system they want to use no matter how stupid you think they are. What I am wondering is why you post this in General topics and not in the section you seemed to have filled with you beliefs (The PC hardware/Software forum).
I use Windows 10 because I want to it runs all the programs I like to use with no effort. All the software I run has been collected over the years of using Windows software and I don’t need a third party software program to run them. They are all paid for so don’t show a build number in the bottom corner of the screen although I have seen this in a couple of support post in some of your threads. Maybe if they put their hand in their pockets they would not have so many problems using the full versions of software just saying. :hmmm: |

Yes, that was what it was about from beginning on: "anfixen". Google does the same, only that their hardware and software works way better and is more secure. Their big issue is not security or broken quality, but privacy. Unfortunately a whole industry got hooked on Microsoft, and lots of the governmental and private business administrations as well. Thats the only thing that keeps Windows afloat, because its quality it certainly is not. Without the compatability for hardware and software, Microsoft already would be a thing of the past. |
