Austria to shut down mosques, expel foreign-funded imams

Quote:

VIENNA (Reuters) - Austria’s right-wing government plans to shut seven mosques and could expel dozens of imams in what it said was “just the beginning” of a push against radical Islam and foreign funding of religious groups that Turkey condemned as racist.
Quote:

The coalition government, an alliance of conservatives and the far right, came to power soon after Europe’s migration crisis on promises to prevent another influx and restrict benefits for new immigrants and refugees.

The moves follow a “law on Islam”, passed in 2015, which banned foreign funding of religious groups and created a duty for Muslim organizations to have “a positive fundamental view towards (Austria’s) state and society”.

This is just the beginning.....:hmmm:

If that is the entire agenda, to hit those who hide in the shadows, abroad or within the country, then I say this has been needed for decades and not only in Europe. Time will show if they will "expand" their agenda to come down on anything not deemed Austrian enough. Then it's time to worry.

This is a bold move and I for one approve. I wonder if it will catch on and if so why is Austria so much smarter than the countries that surround theirs.

Unfortunate but necessary.
Radical islam has no place in Europe.

Oh, it has, and it is dramatically growing. ;)

Austria is a drop on the hot stone only. And lets see whether it gets watered down or not. Behind curtains, the pressure on Austria will be immense.

Good move but the proof is in the pudding. Will it be a success or a flop only time will tell.

Bad things can start with the passing of small good sounding laws.

No too optimistic then SB:O:
Imo we are a at a point where it can all go any number of directions, but yes things aren't looking too bright at the moment in Europe as a whole.
