graphics question
I have had sh4 on my laptop for some time now. I don't mess with the settings other than in game settings. I did install IL2 46 the other day and was messing with the properties of the exe file in order to get the graphic size to something where I could see the whole screen. I gave up on it at this point. Now when I go back to SH4 the screen detail is really high and the dials and such are really small. I am now messing with the properties of the exe file to see if I can bring it back to where it was. So far no joy. Any help would be appreciated. I run win10 with a built in graphics card that came with my surface pro 3 laptop.
Thanks in advance! |
Hi S
You need to know what your laptops native resolution and refresh rate is, then start SH4 and select Options from the main menu. Now select Graphic settings You will see a drop down box. Match the game settings to your laptops resolution and save the changes. While you are messing about in properties run the exe as an administrator. Peter |
they are both set at 2160x1440 @ 60hz...my start up screen and intro movie look more magnified if that makes sense. When it gets to the load screen / option screen it seems more like the 2160x1440....smaller with better detail. I was used to the more magnified. The magnified portion also didn't stretch to the sides of my screen but the load/option screens do.
On my properties for the exe file I have override the dpi selected and run as admin. I hope this makes sense. |
ahhhh - but what is the "Native" (Windows "Recommended") resolution of the display? Set Windows and the game to that - if you have a setting for that. Holler if you don't have that setting... :salute:

That looks like it is the recommended settings. I also have a recommended scaling of 150%. I wonder if the game doesn't also scale up so it looks so detailed but the dials and such are so small?

What Windows is told to do, it will do... most times anyway, so it is scaling your game display also. Set the scaling to 100%, and use the "larger icons" and "larger typing" by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing "Screen Resolution" (or whatever they call in Win10 by now), and then the "Make text and other items larger or smaller" link to choose... :salute:

Oh well...that definitely changes how my desktop looks but for the game it still has small dials and curser and such. Ill be squinting for awhile I guess until I figure it out.
