Torpedo control

Here is the situation:
enemy sub is above thermal layer which is @~1000 deep; solution is pretty good and 2 torps are dispatched towards her with 200 running depth but with a quite deep floor preset 2000.
enemy sub is diving below thermal layer while torps are approaching
torps passing above diving enemy sub

is there any way to influence/guide torps to dive deeper when required?
is there any best/universal "torp running depth"?

In my experience, I've had no issue with a sub being too shallow or too deep for a torpedo. The torps tend to have a pretty large vertical angle on the search cone. Having torpedoes lock on is usually an issue with not using the proper weapons settings per Reinforce Alert mod.

If you play RA:

Quote:

Changing Search Depth: The player can change depth of search during work of a torpedo.
For change of depth follow by the following steps:
Switch off sensor controls on a torpedo - pressing of the PREENABLE button.
Then execute the following combination of pressing of buttons:
ENABLE-PREENABLE-ENABLE.
(It is necessary to notice, that the combination ENABLE-PREENABLE-ENABLE works quickly
- 5 seconds allocated for this - Last pressing of the ENABLE button should be not later than 5
seconds from the initially pressed ENABLE button.)
Visually it can be checked on the display - by pressing the ENABLE button a cone of a torpedo
becomes red color, then by pressing the PREENABLE button - the color of a cone becomes dark
blue, and subsequent pressing ENABLE - cone to become of red color - torpedo will do change
of depth of search.
If there is thermal layer and the torpedo is above than layer, then it will change depth of search
so that it was UNDER layer. And on the contrary.
If there is no layer, then the torpedo simply will change depth of search on large or smaller -
depending on what depth the torpedo is.
The torpedo remembers the depth on which the option of search depth change was given.
After preenable sensor controls the torpedo will restore the previous depth of search again.
