I've been taking in all the information on the forum after returning to SH3 and would like some advice from the experienced Kapitans. I've downloaded the game from steam and am interested in the mod world but am terribly green about such things. Should I play the stock game for awhile and then install some mods and which ones would be good? I would think 2 or 3 mods would be fine. I'm thinking SH3 commander first followed by the Grey wolves supermod.
What does everyone think.
One more thing-GO VIKES!

Welcome back, Captain!

For my recent comments on Grey Wolfes (GWX 3.0) and WAC 5.01, which I both play, I'll paste here:

GWX3.0:
Is very stable and proofed for all lower and more powerful computer systems alike, plus excellent documentation.
Has Atlantic, Mediteranean, Black Sea, Africa, Indian Ocean (+ Indonesia), Pacific (Philippines, Japan), Australia

WAC5.01 :
Is worked on currently with even better grafics, better campaign (the core of the mod), top outside environment in ports, water quality etc. but you need a pretty good computer system (3ghz+ processor, 4GB+ RAM, a decent GPU). Here also excellent documentation about real operations in WW2 and which are all in the mod.
Has Atlantic, Mediteranian, Baltic (Black Sea?).

Cheers,

Hi roblaf
SH3Commander is an application used as an addition to mega mods like GWX and LSH3-2015.
When used with GWX it needs an additional config file.

I’ve got comp. to handle WAC. Do I need to create a special folder for it since I downloaded from steam or is it a automatic by just downloading the WAC mod
Many thanks

@roblaf,

it's here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=233626

Go through the 4 first posts and download.
The installation goes with JSGME (Mod Enabler) which you install in the SH3 game directory, then you install the mod in this order in JSGME (drag and drop to the left-side of JSGME):

-WarAceCampaign 5.0
-Patch 5.01
-Campaign (Atlantic_Baltic or Mediterranean)
- Optional: WAC5.0 Full_interior (doesn't work in campaign !)
- Optional: [your chosen optionals from the optional downloads (winter harbors etc.)]
-Widescreen GUI Mod
- Optional: WAC5.0_No_Dark_Night (still dark but acceptable view at night)
