1.4b patch issue
 

I've downloaded the 1.4b patch for SH3, but when I try to install it, it says that I'm installing it to 1.3, not 1.4b.

FYI, I'm trying to run SH3, fresh install, on Windows 10. Is that possible, or am I just wasting my time trying to patch it. The base install won't open and neither will it open with 1.3.

I can get it to run on my Steam version (I have both Steam and non-Steam).

Anybody know why it says I've patched to 1.3 instead of 1.4b? (I'm using DVD US version).

Yes, this is only a glitch in the patch UI, it's the 1.4b. You will see "1.4" once you launch the game (on the upper right I think).

If you don't have a newer release of SH3 which does not have Star Force?
PM me your address and I'll send you the newer NO Star force version already to go as is. No need to patch.

Jeff-Groves is right here: DON'T launch the game until you have removed the Starforce files, this old s*** DRM can harm your system. First patch with 1.4b then overwrite with the special files that replace the Starforce files. This replacement package should be available in the download section, or make use of Jeff's gentle offer. Be sure to NOT launch the game before that !! (If you did you would need to use the Starforce removal tool immediately.)

The patch 1.4b is necessary because it will correct game bugs and is essential to install mods afterwards, they will not work without.

So you need to:

- Install SH3 ; don't launch the game
- Patch at 1.4b; don't launch the game
- Remove Starforce with special package.

Now you can play the stock game (not recommended) or load additional mods / megamods. If you have a widescreen monitor, then download one of the widescreen GUI mods for a nicer game experience.

I recommend the mods WAC 5.01 or LSH3-2015, but there are tons out there...

I played lots of SH2 and SH3 a long time ago. Which mod do you suggest I start with: WAC or LSH3? (I've downloaded both.)

Get MultiSH3 and you can have a lot of different installs!
I'm a GWX Guy myself as most people know.
