Red on Red incidents

or: the cost of torpedo spam

Anyone else noticing an alarming number of enemy ships sinking their own with the new beta?

my transient launch always kicks off a torrent of snapshot spreads from subs and surface ships (numbering in the teens)

in a few engagements i had a task force with a sub escort and a helicopter.

the sub fired his snapshots, as did the surface ships.

the surface ship's fired both the SN-16 and the deck launched torpedo. no real issues with the flying fish, they landed more or less in my vicinity... but the deck launched torpedoes didn't take long to latch onto their own friendly sub, sinking it.

after evading the submarine's tube launched torpedoes for quite some time, they eventually latched onto the Soviet surface vessels

in the end...

1 sub was sunk, and i think 4 or 5 surface ships were sunk. this represented the entire target package.

in the whole engagement i fired only two torpedoes as i was busy evading nearly the entire time and was simply maneuvering off target or going to fast to shoot. One of my two shots found its mark, the other was outsmarted and locked onto a hapless blue whale with the expected result.

ALL of the remaining kills were red on red "friendly fire" :o

Yes, I've had the same thing - it took me a while to work out what was happening as I was spending so much time evading rather than seeing what was sunk. I noticed most when I had only managed to shoot one torp but 3 enemy were sunk.

They also don't seem to be conscious of civilians at all from what I see.
