Ballistic missile from Yemen
Quote:
Oh my, not what the world wants right now. |
Good maybe the Saudi's will buy more air defense weapons from the US now :yep:
|
I take from this that even in Yemen the era of stones and slingshots is over.

Yes, a good industry to invest in.

From what I know about this, it was the first time a ballistic missile was send against Saudi-Arabia.
I also know that they (Not Saudi-Arabia & Co) have different type of missiles, such as ASM(told by ikalugin) I didn't knew that they had missile with this range. I also know, sooner or later one of these ballistic will penetrate the air defense and hit civilian in Saudi-Arabia. I Wonder what Saudi-Arabia will do when this happens. That is, if they find clear evidence it was and is Iran who have send these ballistic to the opponent. Markus |

The industry are those that support the interceptor missile (ABM) business. Iran's program is serviced by a few other nations. I have done work for a company that is a prime contractor for the Patriot. I left my 401k earnings that I made with them. It does consistently well.
There are many countries, friendly ones at that, that are actively threatened by nations with ballistic missiles. Trying to hold off ballistic missile/nuke warhead development and increasing ABM technology seems sound. |
Depending on whom you ask BMD against complex targets seems like a lost cause though.

I wonder precisely what missile was used :hmmm:
|
Yes, the Patriot system has only a partial engagement zone, just as THAAD does. Development is looking for a capability to engage through a larger portion of the flight of the missile.
Someone posted that a Patriot was used, which is effective in the terminal phase, my understanding, but not in the launch phase. Other countries, like Israel, are heavy into development for non-ballistic missile defense. In their case they foresee many missiles coming their way. Other countries are conducting testing and development, too, like Iran and North Korea. Missile development seems to be farther ahead than anti-missile defense systems. Life goes on... |
Weren't there some issues with the Patriot missile system back in the Gulf War? That it wasn't as effective as we were led to believe, or something like that? I dunno, I thought I remember something said about it not intercepting as many Scud missiles as we were told.
Are these countries still using the Patriot, or has something new replaced it? Has it been upgraded since the Gulf War? |
