Improved Crew Voices
I like the addition of crew voices to the game bu something felt a bit off about them. So I decided to play with them a bit.
Sonar and Torpedoes have stations outside of command room so I applied filters to them so they would sound like they're relayed through some sort of telephone. With the rest I've added a little reverb so that they sound like they're spoken in a closed room and not directly to the microphone. I've also sped up most of them to give them more navy-like fashion. This especially applies to helm station. Don't worry though, the pitch wasn't affected. Here's a video of a short engagement to show how they sound: https://youtu.be/YZtPKUnNaXw Here's the file: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=5259 Installation: 1. Unpack it in the Steam\steamapps\common\Cold Waters\ColdWaters_Data\StreamingAssets folder 2. Go to \StreamingAssets\default\ or\StreamingAssets\override\ then open hud\default.txt and change LogVoiceVolume=0 to desired volume - for me a value of 0.6 works best. This last step is so that the voices can be compatible with any hud mod. Obviously, mod only works in Cold Waters 1.05. Cheers |
As a former Commander, I know directness and a sense of firmness is prevalent. In combat, a bit of emotion seems to creep in due to the tension, especially among the younger.
When first starting a mission, I would like to hear a confident voice say, "XO, I have the CON" with a reply of, "Captain has the CON". Just a good step towards immersion. On other thoughts, when going to flank speed, Scotty would say, "CAPn, I'm getting all she got!". (haha) |
The current tube reloaded voice scares the bejeezes out of me every game.
It always plays out of the blue because I forgot I pressed reload 20 seconds ago or whatever and it's really freaking loud. |
