Wind & Smoke

Hi,

I've seen numerous mentions to this addon, both here and on yourube vids. I'd like to add it to my TWoS game, at least whilst I'm learning how to play, but I can't see it anywhere online.

It appears that it might have come with the TWoS mod a while ago but it is not in the list of mods that I got with the package - 2.0.4

Thanks!

Hi Ryds
You will find it in the optional download in TWOS post #1.
Wind & Smoke is now called Auto Ship Recognition.

Hi again,

I'm having a really frustrating time trying to click on things. Going into 1st person mode to move around generally takes at least 3 right clicks, clicking things on the map with left click is barely any better. It's making it super hard to do anything, let alone enter solutions in the heat of battle.

I just rage quit because i was unable to get the stadimeter to click immediately! ALso being able to zoom in and out with periscope, UZO and binocs is very hit and miss.

Is this a known issue with a fix? My mouse works fine outside of the game. I've already got the antilag fix which cleared up the frame rate issues. Running 16:9 1080 game with sweetfx.

Thanks.

I don't think I'm following you there... Can you recognize your problems in some of various TWoS youtube videos or even better record your own video? :hmmm:

Hi Ryds
Like Vecko I am a bit unsure of what is going on.
What we both know is it will not be a TWOS game problem.

General movement walking around the boat is by using the W-A-S-D keys.
Map movement is using the arrow keys.
Can you click on the icons on the right side an open the Captain's Log, Ships Journal, and other Icons ok?
Can you click on the Officer icons and click on the orders ok?
On the navigation map does the big button top left open when you click on it.

I guess it's a bit difficult to describe. I've read some posts about sticky mouse buttons - e.g. press NUM key twice to unstick right mouse click - but it seems to happen almost all the time.

Some more examples - when I'm in periscope view and I press the right button so that i can control the turn of the scope sometimes it will stay locked in that view when I try to bring back the mouse cursor again.

- I tried to control the hydrophone and had to click many times before it accepted the input, then the same again to exit back from it.

I don't think making a video will work because I've no microphone so won't be able to indicate when I'm clicking to show when it isn't working!

Maybe it's my mouse then?

I'm not sure either...Right mouse click can be sometimes glitchy indeed (stock game problem) but I would hardly describe the issue as a "rage quit" worthy...

To be honest, who ever thinks the opposite will hardly enjoy any SH title (modded or unmodded) because all games from the series have some characteristic glitches, bugs, limitations ect...

I have also mentioned right mouse click glitch in TWoS tips so feel free to check it out...:yep:

Cheers

Try to compare your gameplay with those available on youtube so you can estimate better does the issue comes from the stock game it self or maybe from your installation/OS/drivers/hardware ect...

For a start remove that Sweet FX thing and FPS limiter...:yep:

OK great idea, I'll try without those things first.

Sorted!

It was the combination of SweetFX and antilag d3d9.dll

This is from the page detailing its installation:
"Important if u wanna use antilag d3d9.dll then Sweetf FX is not compatible with antilag d3d9.dll !!!!!! sweet fx will overwrite the antilag d3d9.dll"

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=223128

I uninstalled SweetFx but put in a fresh copy of d3d9 as I was having frame rate issues before SweetFx and...

Now it runs buttery smooth! It's like a breath of fresh air, moving around the boat and clicking on things is so much easier!

Thanks a lot!

I'm glad you've solved it! Thanks for the feed back, comments like these can be useful for many ...
Happy hunting!

:)

I hope the above can help someone in the same position.

Now I can finally start playing this excellent looking mod, thanks for all the work you put into it!

THEBERBSTER 06-28-17 02:39 PM

Hi Vecko
Good diagnosis, with a positive outcome.

I wonder if Ryds gpu is a low spec one and that is why he is having to use antilag.
It might also be worth considering turning down the in game graphic settings as well could pick up the frame rates.
Peter

Ryds 06-28-17 02:56 PM

Possibly that might be true but my laptop is only about 4 years old. I7 processor, 2gb amd radeon 78xx gpu with 8 gigs of RAM.

I have turned the graphics down perhaps 25% and it seems to run fine. I'm actually gonna try taking the antilag thing off and see if there's a difference. I'm not sure now whether i put it in before or after sweetfx.

I just sent my first vessel to Davey Jones' locker! A 1900 tonne Polish passenger ship, it was armed so had a battle of my deck gun against theirs - they lost :)
