Sneak Preview of Effective Noise, Radar and Sonar Detectability
Some nice snapshots from Nihilcat not only show some great artwork, but interesting information regarding what is used to calculate the visual, radar and sound characteristics of your sub and environment:

Yeah, shadow zones ftw! Now to be able to find them lol....
Thanks DWS! :Kaleun_Salute: |
Just a technical note. I think they have it the wrong way around.
Shorter wavelengths make it easier to pick up smaller items.. it's the longer wavelengths than cannot pick up the smaller items. The transmission power and receiver sensitivity determines ability to pick up at longer ranges. So when they say shorter wavelengths not detecting, are they talking about transmission power and receiver sensitivity which make little sense.. whereas longer wavelengths make more sense. :hmmm: |
yeah I really like that there is alot of little stuff you have manual control over, that was automated in Silent hunter.
I'm wondering about trim and depth keeping, but that is probably quite automated as it was PITA IRL. |
