Cookies model making thread
Hi folks,
as mentioned earlier, this thread is dedicated to my model making. I will try to keep it focused on naval content but I will post other content from time to time. http://up.picr.de/29483122wk.jpg Airfix's HMS Triumph is almost done. I just sorted all my old varnishes out and I still haven't ordered new ones. This is why it's sparkling. http://up.picr.de/29483123lq.jpg The Hobby Boss kit is great, but has quite some sink marks. http://up.picr.de/29483124ig.jpg Hobby Boss molded pins on the rudders from one side. I used an old sewing needle and added the missing pins. http://up.picr.de/29483125vh.jpg 3 more to go. I hope you'll enjoy reading this thread. cheers, cookie |
Grand start

Looking good so far!
As for non-naval stuff? Ya gotta build what ya gotta build. It's all good. :yep: |
Ever think about putting your models in dioramas? There are some excellent simulated water products on the hobby market these days.

I had a little accident.
I drilled a bit too deep and the pen I put in there was too short and I could nto get it out again. As I tried to get it out I destroyed the rudder. I ordered a new one but it will take about 13 weeks to arive. So, the question is, what to do now, I got a Los Angeles FLight 1 unit and a Victor III to pick from. |
I started working on the Riich Models 688.
The deatisl are good and they got some interessting solutions on the rudders. I am thinking if I should make the rudders moveable since the dive planes in the stern are. But this kit requires a lot of filler and sanding. http://up.picr.de/29553428mv.jpg http://up.picr.de/29553429xl.jpg Also, the air is so humid that the primer is still a bit sticky after 3 days. |
This is really good work. I hope you post the pictures of the finished product(s).

I sure will post them here!
I've been struck by a touch of creativity and solved the rudder problem: http://up.picr.de/29556118np.jpg Since the hull parts were allready glued together and sealed by filler, I had to improvise. http://up.picr.de/29556119ac.jpg This is the result. http://up.picr.de/29556120vs.jpg And finished. I drilled through the rudder assembly from one side with a long drill and managed to keep the path straight and so I could insert the rod and keep it movable. I attached one of the rudders to the rod before I inserted it and as the edge stuck out at the other side I glued the other rudder in place with super glue. I am tempted to try that with the fairwater planes but my drillings would have to be even more precise. |
That's very neat and tidy modelling... the close-ups prove that
|
I wish my workbench would be as tidy as my kits.
:D Thank you for the feedback guys, feels good man. |
The sail planes are movable!
