Background Reading
I'm looking for non-fiction book suggestions on submarine warfare. I'm new to subsims and I'd like to get more familiar with the general systems and tactics. Any books come to mind? I realize that there won't be any one book that is ideal? Please and thank you!

Cold war submarines: The design and construction of Soviet submarines 1945-2001 by Norman Polmar
Really great book, even has good background information on stuff like the German type XXI and how it influenced sub design. Also has really interesting comparisons on how the USN and Soviets did things differently given their respective situations. Edit: Didn't see that you already beat me to it Julhelm! |
Complete Idiot's Guide to Submarines (The Complete Idiot's Guide) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0028644719..._KdmqzbQD73ACQ
Unfortunately it is no longer in print and the only copies available for sale are pricey used ones. Check it out from a library if you get the chance. |
