Qatar vs Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt et al
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Bahrain, Yemen, the Maldives have cut ties with Qatar over allegations of supporting terrorist groups in the region as well as being a destabiliser. One thing that strikes me is:
Iranian news are low voiced over the terrorist bit but more than suggests it's all a Saudi plot to gain control. No big surprise there. Egyptian news are on about the Muslim Brotherhood which is declared a terrorist organisation in Egypt. Jerusalem Post are on about Hamas. Saudi news are on about ISIS and Al Qaeda as well as Qatar's Iranian ties. As surprising as Iran's hints of Saudi plots. They all point to "homely" groups if pointing at all. Another issue that is more concerning is, if this escalates, it will affect negatively the threat level across not only the region but across Europe and the US as well. Escalation is absolutely not something anyone need. |
The on going proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia that's taking place in Yemen is going to escalate into a full scale conflict sooner rather than later.
Iran and Saudi Arabia, are already fighting a war in six key areas, the military, diplomatic, economic, religious, terrorism and the propaganda fronts, just how the hell are they going to keep a lid on that mess, one false step and all hell will break loose, its just what that region needs right now. |
I sure hope the western countries aren't drawn in but that is probably already too late.

One of the global main financiers of Muslim terrorism. A real major player in this field.

All the weapons sales, all the oil price rises, all money being moved from islamist pockets into Russian ones.

Any info on state sponsored terrorist groups in Morocco?
Edit: Found this piece on the pre-2016 situation http://mediterraneanaffairs.com/2720-2/ |
Marocco, Morocco - I prefer Espresso. "Marokko" it is in German.
Who said it is officially, formally state sponsored terrorism? Its that not in case of Quatar. Not in case of Saudi arabia. Not in case of Mao... Moa... - you know which state. the money flows in all states via private financiers, rich Scheichs and families - which nevertheless are very close to the state leaderships and could not act unpunished and unsanctioned without the leaderships knowing and tolerating it. And that is what makes this private terrorism state-run terrorism. The difference is just deceptive. Its as if claiming that those industrial corporations in the Third Reich that were not formally nationalised and remained formally in private ownership, were not obedient to political and production orders by the government. Nobody would argue they did not work for the Reich and supported it with their production. Of course they did, nationalised or not. Many terrorists of the past 16 years also were from Morocco. Morocco also was the place of terror strikes in the past, against tourists, already before the IS arrived. I know most people see it only as a relatively moderate holiday ressort. But there is more to it. |
In Qatar's case, it reportedly is a bit more than private funds working in secrecy, with members of the royal family directly involved, high profile organisations funnelig money to train terrorists abroad, something that would be very difficult if the Govt there didn't turn a blind eye, and with persons central in terror organisations finding shelter in Qatar, again very difficult without the Govt's (silent?) approval.
It's not easy to separate all facts from fiction when accusers like SA are themselves pretty much tied down by "strong loyal supporters" of the Sauds. Supporters who in turn ask for nothing more than the king's and the Govt's silent approval of extremists being based there, or else the king might find himself facing another, more determined 1979. |
As for the question on western involvement, this could settle it
