Weird issue with Mission Editor 44A Merchants
I've mostly removed unescorted singles from RSRD in late 43-end of war traffic layers except for small coastal vessels and occasional tanker unescorted until meets up with escort(and respawns with escort) Did this because important ships prowling open ocean solo just didnt happen, japanese started taking ASW seriously. In game, singles are just easy targes as generally were in real life.
Anyways, One notable exception was Yellow Sea in June/July 1944 when Tang was there on patrol and nearly all ships encountered were unescorted so trying to add some solo traffic there as well as to coastal areas, some with an escort or two. The issue is when I set a random group to spawn a "Generic Cargo" vessel, it sets the speed to 0 and can not be changed, if I select a specific class of merchant, can set the speed. Tried changing with notepade, does not change. Yet in the original single traffic in RSRD, obvious speed was set. Weird. Any ideas on how to remedy this? Layer dealing with is 44a_Jap_Merchants. Also does this with the merchant vessels in other layers. However, can spawn generic tankers and troopships as well as escorts and warships with no issues. |
All I can think of is to check your mod install, and that you are using the ME from that particular install of the game. Let me ask you this though... When you look through the catalog of vessels that are available, are all the vessels that should be in there actually listed there? You should have GENERIC Cargo at the top of the section, with the Tanker category above and the Replenishment below the "Cargo" section.
Thinking out loud, in the right-hand window, select the "Sea" tab, and the "Japan" country. Scroll down the list, and when you see all the Cargo vessels, stop and highlight the top one. Now right-click on the map and "Add Random Generate Group", and "OK" it. Select 'Japan' for Country, and scroll down through the "Unit Class" list drop-down box until you see the "GENERIC Cargo" entry. Below that should be the same vessels as on the right. The lists should be the same, and if I'm not mistaken, have to be the same, else the editor won't run, or you'll get an error message when starting it... Anyway, I'd go through the "Sea" tab listing for the Cargo vessels, and put them on the map, one at a time, observing what their "Speed (Max xx.x) (knots) __5__" setting is on the properties page for each one. When you find the one at "0", you found the culprit... maybe... You know how once you've created a group, and you select "Group Properties", and you can only set the groups speed to the slowest ship's? I'm guessing one of the Cargo vessels is set to "0" - zero... You would normally be able to set them to 10 knots, so I'm guessing one of them has the "1" accidentally knocked out of its config stuff... |
