Having issues with a "Sen toku" (I-400) mod I am trying to make.

Here are the files on my dropbox, for now I am just trying to get it to work ingame, not make it playable. For sake of gameplay, I have replaced its AA guns and deck gun with US versions in the eqp file. Can you guys identify where I have gone wrong? I have made changes here and there, and ensured the ID's are new and linked right (I think DX). It does not cause the game to crash, but upon loading a mission with it in, the unit does not appear, not on sensors, or visually. |
Without look into the files, are you making that a "US" boat, or a "Japanese" boat? Do you have a matching CFG file in the Roster / xCountry / Submarine folder?

welcome aboard firsttime poster!

Oh good point, I did not upload the roster cfg file... BUT! I do have one, I have one already made in the American area for submarines. |
I hate to be a bother with bumping and such, but I'd really like some help with this.
I haven't really modded much in this game to start, mostly editing the Surcouf mod and such, and would love some help. |
There aren't too many "submarine" modders, so it takes a bit of time for someone to see your posts. I do mostly "text" kind of stuff, and try to stay away from ships and planes and submarines for now, since I am really good at making the game CTD, sometimes even taking the computer down... :o In the meantime, there is already a Sen Toku in the game, an AI Japanese submarine. If you're trying to copy that, you might well have a "conflict" between the two boats, to the point that the game doesn't know which boat you are referring to. Also, more importantly, what are your dates set to in the configuration of your version, and what date(s) are you trying to use it? If you load the Mission Editor, do you get an error message as it loads about the Sen Toku not being found in the library?... and if you don't, can you add the submarine to a mission file there?

Okay, been working on it more.
I'm stuck at the 3d model to appear ingame. I have renamed the Sen Toku model to I-400, and set the cfg to read that as the model, and renamed it in the Dat file. It causes a crash on loading a mission with it in. Will try renaming it to something else (Hyphen might be making the issue?) |
Renaming file did nothing to stop the crash, but inputting the Sen Toku's name works just fine apparently, but doesn't seem to let me alter its weapons...Lovely.
Will try checking the .dat file to see if anything is amiss. |
Deleted, then imported new 3d identical file with I-400 file name also did not work.
I'm seriously confused, this particular 'mod' is nothing more than the Sen Toku with a new name, how is it not working!? |
SUCCESS!
I have no idea what I did, I copied Sen Toku again, this time no renaming, only ID remapping, and its working. *Shrugs* Well, I am happy. Now I just need to make this baby playable...That's going to be a pain. 20mm twin guns and 4 inch are appearing on the ship, which is nice. |
Update, new 20mm single mount added just behind the bridge.
This is added because historically a 25mm was placed there. This project is kinda a silly 'what if US forces captured and refitted an IJN I-400 which went back in time'. |
I have a question, how do you make the twin 40mm not crash the game when activated?
|
Okay...Now I am stuck... DX
Submarine works, but I need to make the upc file, which...I have no real idea how to make that damned thing work. |
Mmmmmmm~
Update, learning more and more about the upc file layout and how it works. I think, at least. The ingame SenToku has all the needed rooms, but has separate diesel and electric rooms...This might cause issues, but I am not sure. Wost case scenario, I can just make a new 'box' hitbox for it. It also has 'quarters' rooms, but I am not sure what purpose these serve. |
