Is radio spy contact report real?

I'm playing TWOS2.0.
Received many radio message sent by spys saying Convoy departed from Freetown/Gilbartar for Liverpool on xx/xx date.
With some ships in the convoy specified like: AMC xxx xxxx ton.

I tried to intercept these convoys but havn't achieved any success.
Are these convoys real or just for realistic feelings?
If these convoys are real then is the date the radio message said the date the convoy will arrive or the date they'll depart?

Oh and one more thing, I've encountered ships with blackened parts and ships with all parts shining grey/silver. What's the difference of the color?
I did some experiments, it seems both types of ships can be armed or unarmed.

Thanks in advance.

These messages are for immersion value but are not dynamic. They are historical I think but not real in SH5. There are definitely some historical convoys in SH5 but if a message doesn't contain your Uboat in the under "To" section then I take the message as not real in the context of SH5. Now the standing orders sent by BDU I do follow.

Well that's a pity. I was hoping to intercept some historical AMC convoys.

I did found and sank one AMC with name in Scapa Flow last night.
So historical ships and convoys might exist.
Guess need to find that out during patrols.

Real contact reports which you can use to plot your intercept course will be displayed in your Captains log and in your Message box/Ships journal too (if contact is close enough).
Note that all see traffic in TWoS/OH II is based on real historical data although it is not a "perfect" replica (that would be impossible and not very useful on game play level too).

Agent reports received in your radio messages log are not reliable and not directly connected to SH world/campaign events, but they can give you at least an overview of what to expect in world seas at that particular war period.

I also get flickering ships. Typically you see this kind of behavior when there are two surfaces super-imposed on top of one another. At least this is the way it is in CAD software.
