Steam-Version - any advantages, disadvantages?
I have played this gem excessively back in the days, but that is almost ten years ago. I feel like maybe wanting to come back to it. I have an old starforced DVD, I am aware of the many mods and supermods and all that. My question is: does the Steam version for 5 Euros have any advantages or disadvantages I might want to take into account (that it has no Starforce I know). Is it normally moddable, like an installation from DVD?

If you install a super mod, in my experience GWX, you have to point it to the correct file location. And you have to point JSGME to the right folder also.
Other than that, I don't believe I have encountered issues with Steam. Of course, SH3 CTD's so much on it's own, there might be an issue, but I'll never notice. |
I'm playing the SH3 Steam version modded with LSH3 and GWX since February. I had no issues modding. I had a handful of noncritical CTDs.

Hi Skybird
Steam is not compatible with the essential TDW Generic File Patcher application necessary for SH5. No problem with SH3 or SH4 Peter |
Tanks for everybody.
I mean thanks to everybody. :D I assume the version to download on Steam also is already 1.4b. |
Hi Skybird
You need to check that out. Some SH games version downloads do not give you the latest updated version. Peter |
Yes, it should be 1.4b. I bought mine from steam before I joined here, and I don't think it's ever updated. *Glares at Ubi*

Do I have to start the Steam-version game via Steam server?
|
No, It works fine with SH3C

I think the Steam server kicks on in the background, but I don't think I've ever noticed it. It's just like launching the .exe directly from the steamapps folder.
