SD Radar Not Working
 

Finally got rid of my S class and now I have a shiny new P-class. I fitted her out with SD radar in port. But now I can't turn it on, neither at the station nor by the menu button.
What's the problem here?

About the only relevant mod I'm using is GFO 1.1. Couple of others that shouldn't have any issues - bigger HUD dials, 3k yd bearing tool, better protractors.

I think you will find SD Radar is passive in the SH4 game.
It has quite a short range 6 miles and they are located on the bridge.
It was very limited directionally where as SJ Radar could be rotated 360 degrees.

Can't turn it on, can't turn it off... Webster's GFO is a fantastic version to play like that though, especially with his plane "fix"...

Two points from his ReadMe:

• - Air patrols have been reduced but pilots will now be a little more accurate when they are attacking you
• - The SD antenna mast was made to raise and lower when ordered to

Good stuff, so you can "find" airplanes at times from periscope depth when you raise the antenna - sometimes, because of directionality, so don't depend upon it 100%. It's a tool, to be used with others. Just don't forget to lower it, since it does make a disturbance in the water like the periscope, and will be "seen". Kind of like "X marks the spot", the DD & planes know where to drop the boom-boom...

Thanks for the reply guys. Now happily off to the Java Sea to drop off some commandos.

@Captcrane - I had a doh! moment. I never thought of checking for boat upgrades when I was in port, for the S-class. Funnily enough once I got my new boat the first thing I did was to look for radar upgrades.

radar is avail but not functional until later on, save your points.:ping:

I had a uss drum that didnt have radar.
