Is this all "digital" art that he produces? I'm having trouble downloading all of the images so I'm only going by the first few. Does he do any painting?

There aren't many " squirrels " that can paint pictures like that, present company excepted. :03: If these are digital prints, you have new material to paint. :) |
I still don't know much about 'digital' art... I ought to learn about it so maybe I won't have to spend a lot of time building models and photographing them, although I believe I read somewhere that models are in fact used. Can anyone give me an idea of how the 'Sunderland' picture was created? If he used a sim, such as Silent Hunter to depict the U-Boat, then surely that's a copyright infringement...

I wasn't suggesting that you copy the art. I assumed you painted mostly from memory. I thought perhaps the art may have given you some ideas. As you said, this may help you streamline the process of creating new art in your studios if it's not copyright infringment. Jim might be able to help as well with as many models that he has and collects with regards to taking pictures. |
No, I'm just genuinely interested to know how these digital pictures are made.
As for copyright matters, I have in mind a striking 'real' painting of some churchill tanks I admired greatly, until I came across the WW2 photographs that had clearly been used... it's the easiest thing for someone like me to copy a photograph into a painting, but that photograph should be one that you've taken yourself or that you have permission to use. I have questions about some aspects of some digital art from what I've seen elsewhere... |

Great picture, however, a tad inaccurate I think. Sunderland is WAAAAAAY low. Look at the D/C on the racks. Port wing has three, Starboard a little harder to see , but the perspective assumes it also has three.
Built this kit many, many moons ago. From memory it weren't easy, if at all possible, to reload racks at that pace. Like I say great pics none the less. For those interested, Shep Paine created some of the greatest diorammas out there. Lots of tips etc. |
