TMO merchants are dots
Evening all,
Merchants with TMO for SH4V1.5 are black dots on the nav naps. How to possibly hit them? I have a bearing and cannot align my ship near them. I can't use any manual targeting method without being able to figure out speed, etc. Is there an option to actually see a ship? If not, something else to use? Thanks, Overandout |
That is intended, you are meant to use your tools such as your periscope, sonar and chronometer to find details about your target, real sub commanders didn't have satellites up in the sky to tell them the target's EXACT course among other things when they spotted a ship. Knowing its position alone from the dot is already too much info for some players.
TMO was created intended to make the game much more challenging for the player. I'm sure other users or youtube can help you learn how to play with it :Kaleun_Salute: |

In my signature is a mod, EZPlot, which restores the stock silhouette and velocity vector plotting system to any game. It will make your dots back into silhouettes so you can play the game. I really encourage you to learn to plot realistically so you can use the position dots. It brings a new level of satisfaction to setting up the shot and sinking the target. But it's not for beginners. Use EZPlot. Load it with JSGME after TMO and patch. If you use RSRDC load EZPlot after it too. Have fun! |
Thanks
Thanks Rockin Rob!

Real skippers play with no map contacts :)

But you DO have a tracking team. They can give you the targets course and speed between two stadimeter readings.
You dont REALLY need to plot anything on the map. Everything is on the TDC. I rarely miss and i dont plot anything: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mORyDNbl_Dg |
But don't screw up or the target team says "Target speed 112 knots." You should probably disregard that information and take another pair of sightings....:haha:
Bow waves are modeled well enough that you can probably reject a "Target speed 24 knots" if the bow wave looks like something closer to 5 knots. Use all your senses to validate target team evaluation and you'll hit a lot more than you miss. |

Also if you're using the TDC dials to the fullest, you know which bearing the target should be on. If when you pop the scope up for another look.. and the target is not there, you know you need to dial it in some more. |
Hi gutted
I enjoyed watching your video. This looked like you were running parallel to the two targets allowing you to use both bow and stern tubes at the same time. Does this allow you to enter both targets into the TDC at the same time? Peter |

I honestly forget the speed/course calculation feature exists. I'd much rather have a button that plots a point on the map at the observed range and bearing. I do prefer working from a chart. |
Ahoy Gutted awesome video I have had bad experiences using the TDC after watching your video I think I will work on it some more. I am running Webster's GFO mod using an S class sub no SJ radar so I basically have no map contacts unless I am in visual range. Thanks for the post!:Kaleun_Cheers:
