No comic relief characters!:Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
No superhuman jedi.:Kaleun_Cheers:
Real groveling before Darth Vader.:o

There were nit-picky things I didn't like, but I won't play that hand yet.:ping:

Viseo?:hmmm:

Far better film than episode 7.

STEED 12-20-16 12:17 PM

No nor will I..

Cost
£15 to watch the film
£7 bus fare

Total £22

Wait three months and I can buy it for £10

Saving £12 and I can watch over and over again.

Second reason I can only sit down for about 20 minutes thanks to my sciatic nerve being damaged.

I hear its a good film, let you know in three months my verdict. :)

Bilge_Rat 12-20-16 01:28 PM

star wars?

I finally saw the last one, "the Force Awakens". First see through, did not see what the fuss was about. Next two times, I enjoyed it more.

However, it did rekindle my interest in the old ones, recently saw "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" which IMHO are much superior movies.

The original three were magic, all the others since then are just pale copies.

I mean why is it that this scene holds up so well over 30 years later...

Because it was filmed in Marin County. Why else?

Actually the speeder bike sequence in Bilge_Rat's post was filmed in Owen R Cheatham Grove in Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park in Humbolt County along a tributary(this being a Uboat forum:shucks:) of the Eel River... the Van Dusen River.

The most memorable parts of the speeder bike chase in the second Star Wars movie, Return of the Jedi, were filmed in this grove. In particular, the forward-looking steadicam shots were taken in Cheatham Grove because it was photogenic and gets few visitors. Other parts of the scene were shot elsewhere; in particular, sideways shots showing the riders in profile were taken from the back of a truck driving down the Avenue of the Giants, also in Humbolt County, and scenes in which actors walk around in the redwoods were shot on private land (with much less impressive redwoods). The latter scenes couldn't be shot in a state park, since they required removing the groundcover to allow camera and lighting crews to walk around freely.

Saw it and loved it! i think it ran a little slow in the start, but the film perfectly ties together the months(?) leading up to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and i would consider the CGI Tarkin and Leah to be darned near perfect!

my thinking was "they'll show Princess Leah from a distance, or from behind or not at all and her presence will be implied or something." then suddenly, BAM! there is carrie fisher in her 20 year old glory standing right there fullscreen.

I'll get a go fund me going, so Steed can see Rogue One. #Steedlovesstarwars:Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Pretty much what I thought. I thought to myself, "damn that guy looks just like Tarkin." I thought Leah looked a little weird, but by then, I had figured out the cgi thing. The only thing that I thought was tacky (but it makes sense though story-wise) was the cut and paste of Gold One and Red One.
I loved the look of the film, the ships looked old, worn out, not that polish crap from episodes 1-3. How this film worked out, makes me want to fire JJ Abrams, dump the current installments of episodes 7-9, hire this director and hand him a copy of the "Heir to the Empire" Trilogy and redo the last three episodes. That would smurfing rock!

There's that poor Will guy again. Not only is everyone in the war movies being told to shoot at him, there you go telling the dog to pee on him.
