Color Footage of Berlin in July 1945
 

Some interesting (well, at least for me) footage of Berlin just 2 months after the end of fighting in Europe.

Fascinating to see. Is that some more footage from Hollywood director George Stevens... it looks like him in the jeep driving towards us from the Brandenburg Gate, then later walking out onto the steps of the Reichstag? And I love the 'spiv' on the bike in the blue suit!

Just by the way, I decided to abandon a painting of this subject area a little while ago (not a common thing for me to do) but here's a detail of a part of it:

It must have been an extremely interesting but not overly pleasant time so close after the end of hostilities.

My dad was there with the Control Commission at that time.
