Target ships vanishing into thin air.

Something pretty strange has begun happening in my SH3. As soon as a target ship/icon [little bright red box] appears on the chart it begins immediately to gradually fade out. This happens irrespective of whether I`m on the surface or at periscope depth. By the time I reach its position the icon has either completely disappeared, or at best it has faded almost to invisibility. In any event it has become impossible to actually sight a target on the surface. It has simply vanished and all I get is an empty horizon. This of course renders the game pointless because one cannot sink any enemies.[ANY or ALL target icons just disappear in the same way].

I have tried a couple of uninstall/ reinstalls but the problem just reoccurs.

This issue has got me completely baffled, since I have spent many past hours on this game without problems.

Can anyone advise me please ?

Thanks.....Ken.S. :hmmm:

Hello Ken Sherrocks! How far away are you from a target ship/icon [little bright red box] when it appears on the chart? :ahoy:

Target ships vanishing into thin air.

Hi Prometheus,

Any distance . Whether a target appears close up or at distance, it matters not. They all just vanish anyway. This really is bugging me as I haven`t heard of anything like it before. Or are there others out there who have experienced this I wonder ?

Many thanks for your reply.

Ken.

If you are close to target ship, for example 3 km you should be able to see it with periscope or if you are on surface you can see it very clear with binoculars and also on nav map. But if you are very far away, for example 50 km when target appears on nav map, you should reed this threads in links below to learn how to intercep target, but I think you already cnow that.

Well if it is some bug in your game, someone who had the same problem in this forum will reply with some suggestions how you can fix it, or you can search for answers on google and find out if someone had the same problem with SH3 like you hawe with wanishing targets and find solution for that problem.:ping:

Prometheus.

Thanks again for your time.

I feel pretty sure now that it is a bug in my game, but I don`t why or how it has developed since I played the game for so long without this problem ???

Maybe try your hydrophone to track them down?

How's the weather by the way? If there's a storm going on in your game they might fell victim to it?

Did they vanish after loading a save game?

What's your supamod?

i just started my first campaign and as i was going out of the port, a ship was going in and it suddenly vanished. I was watching it from the bridge, not from the map. I hope it was the first and last time this happens and your problem goes away Ken Sherrocks.

It's not a bug. When arrived at destination, ships always disappear, else, there would be a huge amount of ships in the harbours !
