Steel Fury using periscopes/view ports as commander

Sorry I know its probably a stupid question but I can't for the life of me figure out how to use any of the external vision equipment from inside the tanks in Steel fury. I've tried pressing every button but to no avail, which is particularly troublesome when using the T-34 as the open hatch view only lets you see the rear 90 degrees of the tank. Tanks in advance :)

Press Insert or Delete to toggle the sight view, and press G to remove the protective cap. Page Up and Down for switching between sights.
