Virtual tour of a B17-G and a B-29
Pretty cool for those who might be interested:
B-17G https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=ArPe3NZ5f1o B-29 https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=Qa3Lu8iPfHW A note to B-29explorers, you will have to exit the bomb bay and renter the aircraft through the aft bay to complete the tour. Or if you are really athletic you can use the longitudinal tunnel behind the cockpit. |
I wish they would bring back that old B-17 airsim game with modern graphics and fast speed memory and processor. :yep:
Must be too expensive to take a chance on old games we loved when they first came out. The gamers are crying for them, though. This will have to do till we can shoot down the enemy fighters and make it on time to our bomb run. |
All those uncovered wires and cables and tows - like on an old sailing ship.
Nice find, thanks! B2 and Blackjack next, please! |

What an awesome find Jim. Thanks for posting. It's great how you can use the curser and mouse to zoom in on anything of interest. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

VERY cool indeed!:Kaleun_Salute: My dad was in B-29's and I 've two uncles who were in B-17's as a pilot and a top gunner.

Here's one I've been in, Avro Lancaster 'Just Jane'.

Excellent Link and Images. The Lancaster's interior looks to be a very spartan .
Quote: Also famous was a series of Lancaster attacks using Tallboy bombs against the German battleship Tirpitz, which first disabled and later sank the ship. Galland (commander of the Luftwaffe fighters) considered the Lancaster to be "the best night bomber of the war", as did his adversary, Arthur "Bomber" Harris, who referred to it as the RAF Bomber Command's "shining sword. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Lancaster |
