Science program is not peoples first choice

My Danish channel I get via antenna through a company called Boxer, only some of the channels are free and some cost money to watch

Now and then they remove and install new TV-channel last time they removed the last real science channel they had(discovery Science)

I made a call to my provide and asked them why they had removed one of my favorite channel

I was told due to low ratings they saw no other way than remove it and replace it with Comedy Channel

Was also told that program like Paradise hotel, Big Brother and others like them are very popular.

I still have(now and then) The German TV-channel N24. and I watch it as much as I can.

I'm guessing a lot of people like mindless entertainment and sitcoms. It's probably a smaller minority that are more cerebral and can appreciate Science documentaries that are well made.

I often watch science documentaries by renowned astrophysicists like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Theoretical Physics professor Michio Kaku and many others on space exploration. Fortunately, these programs are still available.

And to be honest there is nothing wrong with this.

One can't make the inference that because people are not interested in watching science related TV shows that they are not interested in science.

I don't watch, nor would I want to watch, a TV show about the area I got my doctorate in. I get enough of that crap at work.

When I watch TV I want

I didn't mean to infer there was a problem with that. Of my video library, probably 80 % of it is comedy material. I just think that there is room enough for everything. With schools lagging behind in science and math, It's hard enough to interest kids in the science field and not having programs in the sciences only stands to make that worse.

@ Platapus...

So, by your response, you are going to watch Monday's Presidential debate, after all; I can assure you will see at least one boob and one ass (your choice as to which is which...)...

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against these type of program I was disappointed when the removed the last science channel I. I myself dont' watch these programs.

They have Discovery-but I say that channel are becoming more a reality-tv type of channel and not as it once was a "Discovering science"

He, the one I talked to said: There is also History Channel, also a very popular channel.

Said to him: I pretend I didn't hear the last two sentence you said-History channel has absolutely nothing to do with History-Once many years ago, the channel showed real history programs. Today...!!??

In about two month from now I will get a new tv-provider and they have about 200 channel I can pick from, the one I have now have only 48-49 channel.

Discovery channel is to science and technology what Gordon Ramsey is to car racing. It is a pure bred entertainment channel now not shy of making fake docus and present them as real (Shark Week leaps to mind). The few "docus" I watched coming from History Channel were no better, not even getting basic history taught in high school right. Living in Norway, oddly enough I would look to Sweden. I know their national broadcasting as good on science docus, whether they make them in-house or buy them.

No, I won't cross the street to listen to a politician speak. I was going to consider watching it for the entertainment value, but since I despise both candidates, I don't think I would be able to last.

I think my time would be better served expressing one of my dog's anal glands and the result will be the same.

Would 'The Donald' work better in South Park or The Simpsons?

Perhaps, but if you choose to opt to watch the debates, or some other activity, I would tend to be live the dog would be most grateful; if you choose to take your declared course of action, don't expect any sympathy from Rover when your colonoscopy comes around...
