Campaign mission progression/state save file?
I've played through the stock campaign a few times, and a few years back downloaded the Red Storm Rising campaign. I recall playing it but I can't recall the details. I started my second attempt a few days ago. Stuck at home with a severe cold, so I might as well have some fun with DW.
The "Nordic Hammer" mission was hell. I simply couldn't get close to the capital ships without a volley of missile-borne torpedoes raining down on my position. I could evade one or two on a good day, but not half a dozen. Running at tactical speed below the layer got me close, but at 7-8 nm range, the escorts caught me on active, and I was still 18-20 nm from the capital ships by then. I finally gave up and enabled truth, thinking that that would make it easy. Wrong! It took me maybe 6-7 attempts before I managed to sink the carrier, and then only thanks to being able to avoid the torps better due to "truth". I think I was targeted by 12-15 torps, both from the escort ships and a helo, but got away. Three of my torps hit the Kuznetsov and sunk it. I quickly ended the mission then and there, but a few minutes more and that chasing torpedo would probably have killed me. So cheat upon cheat to get through it. Not my proudest moment. So, on to the next mission, Faslane Departure. Should be simple enough, right? Wrong! I didn't read the mission orders properly, and missed the satellite timing issue. I just thought I had to sail to the dive point and dive. So that triggered the "wrong" version of the next mission, Rendezvous. I want to do the mission again, and follow orders this time... Obviously, the progression state of the campaign is stored somewhere, but I can't find it. I've looked at all the files with "date modified" at around when I finished Faslane Departure, but no luck. Any suggestions? |
Hmm, looks like editing the "debrief" file did the trick. I tried it before, but probably missed something then that still made it a fail.
Still no idea where the unlocked missions data is held. |
Bottomcrawler,
One suggestion would be to check out the Mission Editor manual for DW. I am pretty sure it contains information on campaign progression and how to make starting conditions vary depending on the performance in the prior mission. I suspect it might also discuss when/how followon missions are unlocked. The editor manual is available on-line if you do a search. It may even be a download at Subsim for members. Mike |
