Commanding SH5 with Voice Attack works perfectly !
Dear all. Notwithstanding the mega efforts by the Speech recog teams I got a bit fed up with the stuff not working the way I wanted it to.
So I installed Voice Attack and it works like a charm !!! Of course I have not tested all commands yet (you have to put your own commands into the program so it starts pressing keys or mouse or any combination of those) but what I see so far is AWESOME. It understands my short German commands even when I shout them. (and we all know German needs to be shouted otherwise it does not sound right ;) ) [which is a joke.... Don't mention ze war !!] So thank you modders for the extensive work you have done on your Speech recog including the stuff with the new UI but I am sold. Lieber Gruss, Ashikaga. The program is supercheap by the way. No more hassle with Windows Speech or SH5 speech engines. |
The difference between Voice Attack and using Speech Recognition MiTons NewUI Editon v0.4.1 is that Voice Attack uses keystrokes which means the voice commands are restricted to whatever is in the keystrokes file, basically what you see when you press F1 and bring up the keyboard help and the hotkeys set in the OFEV. The SH5 version uses scripting and can be programmed with just about anything in the Menu.txt file. therefore complex commands like "set AOB 62 degrees Port", "target range is 2135 meters", "take her down to 36 meters" or "set new course 259 degrees" or "new heading West by south" can be scripted and is independent of any keystrokes.
I use Voice Attack with Falcon 4 BMS and it works brilliantly on nested keystrokes as used in AI comms. |
That is of course true, That is why I will try a combination of both.
My main perk being that the 4.1 version of the Speech recog mod is fickle at best. I have a great microphone but at times, or should I say more than once, the thing does not listen no matter how many times I give a command. By the way you can put more things into Voice attack since mouse clicks are also programmable as commands. But yes the mod speech recog has infinitely more possibilities. But I do not want to play the game entirely by voice anyway. :) Ashikaga. |
