Looks like I have to buy a new copy of SH5
Ok the first thing I did after I had "learned my new computer" was to install SH5-after installation I got the message "Service unavailable" Well would you know, so I just toke the cd out of my (forgot the technical word for this thing) and put it back on the shell.
Now some hours ago I thought I will give it another try. Put the cd into this drive and closed it a pop-up window opened I pressed the "autorun" and then I was told the game was patching and later the Uplay was being upgraded. When finished I created an account and waited nothing happens Open and closed my DVD-driver and then a "enter-your-keycode-window opened I entered the code got the message-Following code is already in use. WHAT !? Oh then I remembered it's not the first time I have tried to play SH5 and thereby created an account. But what was my log on before. It toke some time for me to remember it-I logged on and I could see my account. The first thing I wanted to do was to change my mail address-Got the message, after I had pressed the "Change" -"A message.....has been sent to you email-!!!???!!! Don't uplay or what the correct name is, know that a Person may have changed its email account and thereby dosen't have that anymore. I tried to find out how to send information about this, but couldn't find any. SO-it looks like I have to buy a second copy of SH5. Second, do these at Uplay don't understand that sometimes a person have to buy a new computer or reinstall the system. Markus |
Hi Markus
The Uplay security is totally unnecessary for 2016. CD key. Login. Email address. Password. These are all locked to the above. A long as you keep a record of these then it is not a problem unless there is a change. A new computer means a new CD. Fortunately SH5 is not expensive these days. Peter |
You're not the first person with this problem. Contacting ubisoft support seems to work well for others. : )

As mentioned some times I guess I have to buy another copy of SH5 but as you say they come cheap these days. Markus |
Cheap?
Where can I get a cheap SH5 DvD/CD? My links show that it will cost $30 at amazon. I can't see anywhere else to buy it.

@mapuc use this and will solve your problem this problem was also with sh3 |
You HAVE to be online to enter your name and password .
You HAVE to use the name and password you used when you first installed the game . |

yea i forgot to say about that and also no need to register again on ubi site ......forgot about that .... |
So, it is your account details that are important.
Login. Password. Email address. Logging on to Uplay should recognize that you already have SH5. It already has the cd key registered. Peter |
Amazon have a number of third party sellers selling SH5 second hand dvd's.

Can I access my SH5 via uplay ?
Cause as it is now, the game are asking for the Key code when I put the SH5 disc into my DVD-drive and it keep on saying this code is already in use. I will do as Darojax said I should do contact Ubi and tell them about my problems. The page I came to https://support.ubi.com/da-DK/faqs/0...fallback=en_GB Didn't give any help, as Ubi are sending information to an very old not in use anymore email address. Markus |
Have sent Ubi an email and gave them a little background story and asked them to erase my two account, so I can start on a fresh.
I do hope they will send me a reply ´cause I forgot to tell them which two account It has to be. Markus |
If you can remember your Uplay info it's all right there. No need to get another copy..... If you can't remember, just use the forgot password/username option to get everything sent to your email. The DVD is totally unnecessary as everything is handled digitally from Uplay.

Hi Markus
I have never been asked for the CD key before installing only after the installation when it sends you to a Uplay login. Not the usual login. I do not use this and exit as Uplay should already have the details. Starting the SH5.exe should take you to Uplay. Peter |
Please forgive me for spamming this thread but I just can't believe my eyes!
I bought Silent Hunter 1. When the Patrol Disks started appearing, I bought all three of them. One by one. Then I bought the Silent Hunter 1 Commander's Edition which, thanks to DosBox I play to this day. Bought Silent Hunter 2 & Destroyer Command. Bought Silent Hunter 3. Bought Silent Hunter 4 & I was FORCED to buy Silent Hunter 4 U-Boat missions. I highly criticized UBISoft for having us buy the latest patch, but at least gave us a U-Boat campaign to play with. And, let me tell you, software in Greece is not cheap at all. We're submarine fans. Who can wait a year or so to get the game cheaper or second hand? Not me.:D But this thing with Silent Hunter 5 is unbelievable... A big shame! Watching people who gave their hard earned money getting treated like thieves is unacceptable at least. People are forced to extreme ways and solutions just to play the game. Buying a new copy of a legally purchased game because of an idiotic and greedy system forced upon them. All of this because of our love for the genre and because there's no competitor... Thanks to SubSim I learned a lot about this... abomination of a game, before my heart lead me to the software store. My Silent Hunter history ended with Silent Hunter 4. That's the last money UBISoft got for me. And not just for me... I am a hardcore submarine fan and it deeply saddens and at the same time outrages me to see fellow subsimmers treated like this. I really hope that the game with the community's help and creative ideas will reach a state which will be once again worthy of bearing the name Silent Hunter in its title. I'm not trying to be offensive with anyone, just writing what I'm thinking. Good luck and good hunting! Billy. |
