Patrol number 2
Feb of 42. Tmo installed. Thinking about going to the bungo straits and patrolling. I see on the map where it says mines in there. Are the mines there beginning of 42 and how far off land are they. Should I find some pretty good targets and is there lots of destroyers in there. Don't wanna lose my boat yet. I just have tmo installed

Watch out for IJN's DE 'Bungo Pete' - he is tough to shake.
Happy Hunting! |
Bungo Pete???
|
Ahh yeshhh, Bungo Pete, first introduce to the General Public by Commander / Captain Edward L. Beach, Jr. in "Run Silent, Run Deep":
"During their first war patrol in the Walrus, they encounter the Japanese destroyer Akikaze, skippered by Captain Tateo Nakame (nicknamed "Bungo Pete"), who is responsible for sinking a series of American submarines in the Bungo Suido, including the USS Nerka, commanded by a close friend of Richardson's." Quite a story. |

Ducimus, the creator of the TMO mod included a special Bungo Pete Akikaze for you to encounter 'somewhere' in the Pacific. He is tough, and is responsible for quite a few fatalities among the players of TMO... as he was as mentioned in the book and the film. Happy Hunting! |
Only in American subs, No???
|
Correct, American subs need to worry about Bungo Pete.
German boats need to worry about B-24 Liberator's. Happy Hunting! |

You have piqued my curiosity. So, this Bunghole Pete, is a Destroyer??? Patrolling an area alone and not protecting a convoy??? Tell me more...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run_Silent,_Run_Deep Ducimus put him in TMO as an UBER VETERAN Supposedly hangs around the Bungo Straits, but also occasionally escorts convoys To see him in your scope is to know death - apparently Never seen him myself though :03: |
