Need guidance to the proper thread (video capture of SHIII gameplay)
 

Hey all,

I would think it is here somewhere and I am just missing it.

So apologies for putting this request in this thread.

What is the best (reliable) software to use to capture video of one's Silent Hunter III game play?

I am using the stock resolution with the game (no special res mod).

GWX3

FRAPS is great (some of the best 30 bucks I have ever spent) - and there are some - even free - alternatives you may want to check:

Ezvid - Taksi - Bandicam - CamStudio - Debut (NCH - careful! limited/wants to install more software!)

Just to save you some time:
you need two hard disks (one fast one!) to run such software - one reading the game data - while the other (fast!) writing the recorded data.
One hard disk can't simultaneously read and write - and the recording will lag beyond evil...

The latest USB standard may be sufficient - so one hard disk and your fast 8 GB USB stick to record...
The files are huge - at least with FRAPS - as it writes lossless BMPs for every recorded frame - high quality recordings come at a price.
