Remove target speed from Item notes box?

When you hover the mouse cursor over some stuff, an information box appears on the bottom right of the screen (above the message log).
I have no problem with this, except that when i hover over contacts on the map, it tells me the speed of the contact!
This feels gameish and a major cheat!

Is there a way/mod to make that box not show me the contact speed, or make that box dissapear (not show) alltogether?
Ideally, i would like that speed to appear as "slow" "medium" "fast". But if its not possible, then i would rather not have it at all.

I tried the menu editor and made that box appear off screen, but the information still appears on screen (just without the border).

P.S. i know the New UI with TDC and other major UI overhaul mods remove this box, but i prefeer to use mostly stock UI. I just want that speed data gone.

thanks!

that's not a cheat....the sonar guy could determinate the ship speed only listening the propeller sound

I might be wrong here, but AFAIK they were able to tell an estimate (e.g. slow, fast, etc). But an exact speed in knots with pinpoint accuracy like we have in the game?

In any case, i like calculating the speed myself. So i would prefeer not having that information.

I believe it can be done with one of the files for the real navigation mod and/or using the TDW file patcher. You will have to do some searching around but changing stuff like that is possible. :yeah:

Did it! :D
Couldnt figure out how to change the speed reported, so i entered menu editor and offset the position/anchor of that whole itemnotes box to appear offscreen.

While i was at it, i also got rid of those annoying tutorial buttons, and made the heading bar larger.

:hmmm: now.. if i could only put my beloved SH3 officers bar back in the game...

Hi Benzin
Sounds like you are playing without TDW's NewUI.
Post #7 TDW's NewUi 7-5-0 Installing It Correctly

As you can see in the picture they work in the same way as SH3.
Pressing the shortcut T key brings up the teleporting stations.

TDW's Options File Editor Viewer will allow you to make a number of changes to a large number of game settings.

This Picture shows further changes that can be made to the Officers by when using the OFEV.

Hi THEBERBSTER,
Yes, i dont use TDWs UI. For some reason it makes the game run slow for me. I use several other mods and the game runs good, but as soon as i enable that UI, the load times tripple, the mouse gets kind of slugish, etc.

I think its because all the stuff it adds. Wich is great of course, but the truth is i dont need or want about 90% of it. Not interested in automation, ships log or any of that stuff.
Another issue i have is that my screens feel "cluttered" with all the new buttons and stuff (even after customizing it).
Needless to say, im not undermining TDWs *excellent* work (without his mods and patches sh5 would be long gone from my pc), its just that that particular mod doesnt fit my needs.

Ibe also tried UI-boat and magui UIs, but somehow i feel more comfortable with the stock UI. I dont like the super rusty look of magui, i dont like the top & right icons and scopes in ui-boat.

I made a *very* basic mod that just extends the stock bearing bar so i can pick any heading i want, removes the tutorial icons, adds a nomograph and a 3000m bearing overlay to the map, and hides the itemnotes. And i must say that as far as UIs go, i am happy with it :)
About the only thing i miss right now, is the ability to give order to my officers without having to walk up to them (im using MCCMD + EMCCMD). Thats why i need an officers bar.
I wish there was an officers bar -only- mod. :)

BTW, i want to thank you again THEBERBSTER, for helping me out getting the TDW patches to work, and for those excellent posts/guides you have on modding this game. It is safe to say that without that, i would have unininstalled the broken bugfest this game is in its stock form.
Thanks!
