HEADSETS - What's yours?
You want comfortable earphones/mic with good quality for a cheap price..
I use these and I have been told I hear more enemies, more accurately, more often, than most of my squad mates.. Because many headphones break at some point, wires wear out, USB gets bad static.. but these use direct 1/8inch or 3.5mm audio jacks, large speakers & cushions for your ears for better reproduction of game sounds.. and cancel outside noises, and are cheap enough to replace every few years.. link down below- price at this time $16.62 https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui...ef6e&zw&atsh=1 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=966675&gclid=CMrws-q20MsCFUI6gQod-XsEUw&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C91438732682%2C& Q=&A=details .. |
I really like my headset.
They were a bit expensive though... And I did get a bad unit the first time, but support let me get a replacement without issue. They are the ROCCAT Kave XTD 5.1 Digital Headset. http://www.roccat.org/en-US/Products...D-5-1-Digital/ They are like $150, but I like them a lot. The ability to use it as a bluetooth headset for my phone has been nice at times. Also, it is nice to be able to easily mute the mic, and the light that lets you know the mic is muted is useful. I bought mine off of Thinkgeek.com for $170 just over two years ago. They seem to have lasted well. |
Two years, not bad.
I just got a pair of Turtle Beach PX3 for $59 at Wal-Mart. They are ok, so far; nothing spectacular except they work. |
Kingston HyperX Cloud
I use the Kingston HyperX Cloud, which costs around $70, although I have a different microphone because the mic included is not as good as I'd like it to be. It has great noise isolation which lets me hear things even if they're really quiet, which isn't hugely useful for Marulken (yet) but is very good for other games. The Cloud IIs have an adapter to add virtual surround but I really don't care about that, and it'd probably be trash anyway. Trust me, there is a reason this headset is so popular in gaming.

Sades SA-808 Stereo Gaming Headphones w/Microphone - $13.50 @ Amazon.com - I purchased mine over a year ago, when the price was closer to $16 USD.

I've gone for a cheap mic from Amazon and a headset which the microphone broke off from it. Probably the best set up imo.

Razer Black Shark
http://i.imgur.com/j3ZCwgA.png Very comfortable to wear and feel sturdy. As a backup, I've got the Logitech G430. http://i.imgur.com/vKU1ZHg.png Not as comfortable, but they do have 7.1 sound. |
I happen to have a Razer Kraken headset, though I don't often use the microphone. It works well enough, though the USB cable is very sensitive to GSM interference.
|
I like headphone with gimbal suspension (AKG style). It's very comfortable as the structure is very flexible (twist and turn to follow your head shape).
The Razer Kraken shown above looks cool though, much like Bose Aviator set. |
Blue yeti on a shockmount and suspension arm w/ pop filter and any sennheiser headphones laying around... buy I do more recording than VOIPing :har:
|
Post pics! Some people wonder what gimbal suspension is or have never seen it!

Nothing special until you need to eliminate desk kicks and keyboard jiggles then a ahockmount is gold. (And if anyone ever buys a Blue product they are flipping huge. Getting a 3" mic in a 2.5" shockmount is not easy. Dont buy cheap boys n girls.) What's the Capt doing up so late. |
This Cpt is uploading the new dev chat videos late at night.
