To be honest, I'm not really sure. The Pontiac GTO's slang word was always " Goat " . If you said a " goat " , everyone knew you were referring to the GTO. Maybe it was because with GTO, the only thing missing was the A. It couldn't be that simple, could it ? :)

Maybe someone in the forum knows of another reason. GT182 here in the forum owns a very nice red Pontiac GTO as well.
