Burt Kwouk

Sadly Burt Kwouk has died, perhaps most well known for his role as Cato/Kato in the Pink Panther series alongside Peter Sellers, but he also played the role of Japanese Major Yamauchi in the excellent series 'Tenko', which is worth a watch if you ever have a chance to.

You beat me to it, Oberon... just heard.

I loved to see Bert Kwouk in anything he did; we grew up with him on TV and in films, a very great star and I was so sad to hear the news of his passing.

First I've heard of it. Also sad to see him go. I remember the villains he played, especially the drug-smuggling general in Air America, but of course the Pink Panther series was the best.

A fine and distinguished actor yet one I never realised was born in the UK.

RIP Mr Ling

He had the greatest line in that entire movie.

Rest in Peace

One of the things that increased my respect for Kwouk and the writers of Tenko were the final few episodes of the series, after Japans surrender.
All through-out the series you've witnessed the barbarity of Japans warping of the bushido code applied to the women of the camp, Major Yamauchi himself was responsible for some of the acts which whilst normal to the Japanese were horrific to the west.
And yet, at the end, you almost feel sorry for him, it's strange really... :hmmm:
Sign of good writing and good acting.

RIP.
