Poll: Do you click on the links provided in response to others in threads?

Just wondering how this poll will turn out ... sometimes I do if it's directed in the objection to one of my post, but normally I don't. I don't trust some of the links unless it's facebook or youtube or a major news outlet.

How about you?

Sailor Steve 05-09-16 07:40 PM

For the most part, yes, if they are provided by forum regulars.

You might trust the link, but I wouldn't trust the content.

How do you know you can't trust the content without looking?

And yes, I always check the links.

Jimbuna 05-10-16 05:03 AM

Yes, I check the links but that is part of my remit here.

Pisces 05-10-16 05:29 AM

Not always. Most of the time though. If it is some kind of silly news link referenced here in the general section, then mehh.. If it is a reference to what someone wrote here on the forum (especially if it is an exploding topic) I'd like to make up my own mind of what happened.

As if Facebook or Youtube are the harbingers of truth and reliability of content. I know of no other places to get hoaxes more often than daily.

Or did you perhaps mean that you only trust those as sources not offering or potentially infecting you with malware attacks?

STEED 05-10-16 05:34 AM

Not always and if I do some which I don't know I check the link first.

Rockin Robbins 05-10-16 08:33 AM

Sure! How else can I find the spam around here!:D:D:D

Yes, that's what I mean ... sometimes I get pinged on by funny url's. Makes for a healthy computer.
I just compared google with Bing too and found google to be more to my information gathering delights.

Bilge_Rat 05-10-16 02:55 PM

yes, if it is a topic I find interesting.

Platapus 05-10-16 05:28 PM

What I don't like is when someone (here or on another site) just posts a link without any commentary or reason. Those I never click.

fireftr18 05-10-16 06:54 PM

If it's something that interests me, I'll click.

Good practice and the sort of links I will continue to try and detect.

vienna 05-11-16 01:39 PM

Is it possible to have a poll on whether or not people click on polls?... :hmmm:

Same here. I do not care for it when someone creates a thread with some ambiguous title and comment like "This is a bit strange" and just a link.

That's lame and clickbait.
