Does anyone know if there is a mod that adds descriptions to all the torpedoes and sub equipment like TMO does?

You could make one. The info is in the UPCLocalization.tsr file in Data\UPCData\UPCLocalization\ - the TMO 2.* tsr file. Just edit your words in to your tsr file and you have the mod.

As always, first make a backup copy of your original file, edit your file, and activate your edited mod file with JSGME.

For example, here's the section from the TMO 2.5 UPCLocalization.tsr file:

Mark 10 Torpedo=Mark 10 Torpedo
Mk10TorpInfo=Speed: 36 kt|Range: 3,500 Yards|Propulsion: Steam|Warhead: 497 lbs TNT
Mk10TorpNotes=Developed by the E.W. Bliss Co. It was first produced in 1915 to be used as a fast, short-range, antisurface ship torpedo. The Mk 10 featured the largest payload of any torpedo developed up to that time. Used in R- and S-class submarines after WWI, this torpedo saw service in the early years of WWII.
Mark 14 Torpedo=Mark 14 Torpedo
Mk14TorpInfo=Speed: 46/31 kt|Range: 4,500/9,000 yards|Propulsion: Steam|Warhead: 643 lbs Torpex
Mk14TorpNotes=Though plagued with many problems until mid 1943, it was the standard submarine launched torpedo of the war until the introduction of the electric Mk 18 Torpedo. Approximately 4,000,000 tons of Japanese shipping were sunk by the Mk 14 torpedo.
Mark 16 Torpedo=Mark 16 Torpedo
Mk16TorpInfo=Speed: 46 kt|Range: 13,700 yards|Propulsion: Hydrogen Peroxide|Warhead: 943 lbs Torpex
Mk16TorpNotes=A high-performance but high-cost torpedo. None were used in combat, although 60 units were completed prior to the end of the war. After the war, it remained in service until the mid-1970s.
Mark 18 Torpedo=Mark 18 Torpedo
Mk18TorpInfo=Speed: 29 kt|Range: 4,000 yards|Propulsion: Electric|Warhead: 575 lbs Torpex
Mk18TorpNotes=The Westinghouse version of a British-captured German G7e. It became one of the most successful torpedoes of the war. In 1944, it made up 30 percent of the torpedoes fired, by 1945, this increased to 65 percent. The tactical advantage of this torpedo was the lack of a wake. About 1,000,000 tons of Japanese shipping were sunk by the Mk 18 torpedo.
Mark 23 Torpedo=Mark 23 Torpedo
Mk23TorpInfo=Speed: 46 kt|Range: 4,500 yards|Propulsion: Steam|Warhead: 643 lbs Torpex
Mk23TorpNotes=Developed to satisfy what appeared to be a valid tactical requirement of the war - the high-speed feature of the Mk 14 torpedo. However, due to changing requirements, most of these torpedoes saw little service. Early in the war, the low-speed feature of the Mk 14 was rarely used. Later in the War, fewer targets and improved Japanese ASW necessitated firing from longer ranges. The Mk 14 torpedo, with its low power and longer range, became the preferred weapon. Much of the Mk 23 inventory was scrapped or converted to Mk 14's while other units were cannibalized for spare parts.
Mark 27 Cutie Torpedo=Mark 27 Cutie Torpedo
Mk27TorpInfo=Speed: 12 kt|Range: 5,000 yards|Propulsion: Electric|Warhead: 95 lbs Torpex
Mk27TorpNotes=Developed by Bell Telephone Laboratories, It was an acoustically-controlled homing weapon intended for self-defense against ASW escorts. This torpedo was essentially a Mk 24 Mine modified for submarine launching in a 21-inch submerged torpedo tube by the addition of wood guides on the outer cylinder shell.

I bolded text to emphasize the 'mini-sections' for you. You can find descriptions of torpedo's on the internet or in books. The torpedo data is in the ;UPCUnitsData\Ammunition.upc section...... you'll see. The semi-colon ( ; ) generally comments out the words that follow on that line.

You can see that the tsr file uses " " text text " " to bold (or is it make red?) the enclosed text text and a " | " will make a new line. Compare the TMO Mod appearance with the tsr file text to see what everything does.

In the help menu you can see what makes red text in that file. It's fun stuff and a learning experience. : )

Have fun & Happy Hunting!
