New member intro...
 

Hello everyone,

I have been a casual player in the past of Silent Hunter and played a couple nights a week on line with some good online friends. I went from SH to SH3 and continued to play with our closed group. I upgraded my PC about 4 years ago as did all my buddies but SH3 was a no go to Windows 7 so we dropped out.

I reinstalled it again a few days ago and trying to get it to work. Lots of instructions on How To in Win7. Well, got it installed with no problems, but now can't get past the dreaded PAUSED entry. I found the config fix here but it's a no go. One thing that is curious is that there is no set of SHIII folders in my "My Documents" folder. It is installed in the default location, c/programfiles 86/Ubisoft/SHIII.

Will try my 3rd reinstall tonight, SHIII DVD v1.0 with SF. I follow the the steps to remove SF, add the 4GB patch, video patch, and the "other" patch.

Oh, also, can't get the video resolution to change either. The sim does load, the intro movie plays and I can move around in the menu but when I start the sim it enters in PAUSE. The compression box shows 0 but I cannot get it to change + or -.

Any further suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Do not install in the program (x86) folder.
Install into a new folder on one of your drives.
The folder in your documents is for your saved games.
