Mods for ship diversity.
Looking through the forums for mods that will give the player a wider range of possible targets, or greater diversity in non playable ships if you like, it very quickly becomes a bit of a jungle to figure out which ones are compatible with other mods and which ones are more demanding that way, which mods have WS issues and which ones that don't have those issues.
If you know of any mod that will increase the diversity in non playable ships, please post here. "I am become life" has a great archive of merchant fleet I use for NYGM. There is merchant fleet mod in the download section, but you are going to have to look for it. Remember that if you add ships to your game, you will need to find the ships names to add to the "cfg." File or the type of ship will not show up. It will have a generic name.

Ditto for IABL's Merchant Fleet Mod.
I play NYGM and use the MFM that comes with it. Quite stable. MFM 3.2 was what I used with GWX. I didn't have any issues with it, but that was several years ago. T |
Got the Merchant Fleet mod + skins http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170741
and it appears to work just fine with GWX3 EXCEPT (and this is where I need some help): The ships appear in the rec manual and in the game but one ship (AK01A) has a super magnified image (or rather part of an enormous image) in the rec manual so I can't tell what the ship is supposed to look like. All other ships appear to work, it's just the AK01A. One minor thing and I'm not sure if this is where I messed up or if it's intended: I use the first 1939 skin pack for my first patrol and in the rec manual, beside all the new T's and M's and the other, there are also a bunch of medium merchant xx and tanker xx's with what seems to be less detailed than the full on T's and M's. Are they supposed to be there or are they meant to be the bodies for the T and M ship skins? |
Technically, there are skins, and there are "rust buckets" that are to appear simple. The skin you get is random. If you use sh3 commander, you can set the skins to appear at certain years.
As far as that ship you talk about that is blown up. I have no idea why it is that way. |
Solved the issue with the large image (sil.tga file). It was twice the normal size. Edited it down to normal size.
