upgrade problems..

I recently ponied up for the Gold version of SH4. When playing I find that manual use of the sonar ( click a point on the circle, and it rotates to point that way) just makes the screen view move around as if I clicked anywhere on the screen. Is there a bug that needs a fix?
History: was running SH4 1.5, D/L the gold and updated. when it didn't work (as described), I uninstalled SH4, then installed Gold, same problem.
the D/L from amazon got quite a few "lost contact, reconnecting" messages, so I did a fresh D/L with no errors. Uninstalled SH4, Installed gold again.. same errors.

I searched the forum for any discussion of this, but came up with a blank.

I also noticed there are no U-boat missions (Quick or war patrol). Is that right?

I had NO MODS installed at any time.

more info...

I was experimenting.. some Boats are OK here, some are NOT

Using "war Patrols" and "quick Missions"
works on : Porpoise, S18, S42, Salmon
does not on : Gar, Gato, Balao

When you say you d/l the Gold Edition of SH4 and upgraded, are you talking about adding some mods or what? The Gold Edition of SH4 is v1.5. It is the latest edition, there is nothing else.

You might need to clarify some.

yes I downloaded the Gold version 1.5 from Amazon. paid for it, etc.

had been running SH 1.4 for 2 years, finally decided to get current.
Also noted from the main menu, when I go to missions or war patrols, there are NO U-boat missions, etc.

Same thing happens to me, I think it's safe to say it happens to everyone. Just use the Home and End keys to rotate the sonar.

As far as I know, U-Boat mission is a campaign only.
There are some mods on here that add U-Boats into Quick Missions and War Patrol.

Yes, its a stock game bug with the Gato Conning Tower files (where the sonar files are kept) which the Gar, Tambor, and Balao class subs use also.

In the "Downloads" menu under SH4\GamePlay Mods you will find "Gato Sonar Bearing Fix_Stock"..... linked HERE. It will put the mouse capture ability back onto the Sonar Bearing Dial for those subs.

Yep, the stock game doesn't give you much on the German side regarding missions......got to make them yourself.

Much Thanks to CapnScurvy

If you ever decide to use any of Vickers03 beautiful interiors, most if not all of them also include this fix.

Happy Hunting!
