Some U.S. Marines on ground in Iraq to fight ISIS: U.S. military

Quote:

A detachment of U.S. Marines is on the ground in Iraq to support U.S. and coalition efforts against Islamic State, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A group of Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU, will add to the U.S. forces already in Iraq battling Islamic State, it said.

The 26th MEU is currently deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations, which covers the Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean.

Basic troops or special forces a good mix.

I wonder how effective they will be when they are fighting bare-footed.

After all, Obama promised no boots on the ground didn't he?

Maybe the Marines have a nice silver lame pump that is simply stunning.

Yes, Obama said so, but as usual it is no news that the road change.

A Detachment isn't a large number of troops. There's no set number but that word is usually used to describe something like a base or installation security force rather than a combat unit.

1 dead and several wounded after an attack by Daesh over the weekend, they attacked again today, but were driven off.

Iranian militia is ready to go after them too-

"In addition, a militia backed by Iran warned it would “deal with” U.S. Marines fighting ISIS in Iraq as “forces of occupation.” In an announcement on its TV channel al-Ahd, the militia added, “The forces of occupation are making a new suspicious attempt to restore their presence in the country under the pretext of fighting their own creation,” referring to ISIS."

U.S. Special Forces soldiers have been seen and photographed on the front lines in Syria wearing the patches of Kurdish fighters.

So we've finally figured out the best way to get reliable allies is to just fill their uniforms ourselves.

I would say ''Who cares?'' but since the EU does I say instead ''Screw him''.

Good to see the kurds are getting some help to wipe Daesh from the crust of this rock.
