I'm hearing reports on twitter that Eric Brown, probably Britains best test pilot, has died at the age of 97. Using the word legend is no hyperbole for this man who flew pretty much all there was to fly during WWII and its aftermath. British avitation owes a great deal to this man who had many close scrapes with death and yet always came through. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Brown_%28pilot%29 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-30039300 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szten4iypCM RIP Eric, and thank you. |
There wasn't much he has not flown and even here in Germany that name rings a bell. RIP sir.

Long life lived to the full.:salute:

Sadly, there are so many veterans from all branches that are lost on a daily basis. They gave everything and were called the greatest generation for good reason. The same efforts and dedication they displayed in wartime would be called upon in peace time to rebuild a nation. Their respective loyalties never wavered.
Rest in Peace Eric and thank you.:salute: |
One of the great test pilots, they usually have a short life span, amazing he had such a long life.
RIP. :salute: |
