I forgot to change the crew speech to German when I started my career, but changing it now crashes the game. Can I change it when this patrol is finished or must I start a whole new career - or is there a config I can tweak?

I changed it via notepad so that I would get German speech, and it appeared to have been accepted in Options, and I 'applied' just to make sure - but the game still crashed before it fully loaded, so I guess there is another setting I need to change elsewhere... thank you anyway Ivanov :)
