Finally!
I am officially a happy man, what a satisfying feeling this was!
Have just racked my first two kills in this amazing Subsim, i am a sucker for realism and want to give myself a real challenge so went for the wolves of steel modpack (which works great for me). I had been reading up on all kinds of manuals and tutorials in the last few days but did not really dedicate myself to not give up and just keep on trying to find/intercept and kill an enemy ship. Most of the targets i just lost or just couldnt handle everything last minute and got detected or missed entirely. (i play on full realism, getting depth bombed with no external view kind of killed me on my first convoy interception :P) Must say i'm not completely new as i have had made one kill before in SH3, and had learned how to intercept targets long-range by an amazing tutorial here on subsim by dantenoc (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=88961) Untill tonight... i had gotten a radio report for a small convoy (consisting of 2 ships apparently). From there i had set up an intercept course with plenty of time to spend, guess what! Sounds coming from the hydrophone from almost straight ahead. I set up a 90 degree attack angle as i had figured out their course and angle of bow roughly with the attack disc (what an awesome tool) and managed to sink the Dale class oil tanker first with 2 torpedos. The other freighter was trying to get away so i decided to surface and have my crew man the deck gun. Luckily we crippled her and launched a third torpedo which hit beautifully up the middle, i just HAD to try it. Tonnage was 22548, i am so happy everything worked as well as it did this time. Big thanks to all who are part of this community and contribute with tutorials, videos, guides, mods etc. WIthout all that i would probably have given up at some point. http://images.akamai.steamuserconten...AC7F92F38A8CC/ |
Full realism settings are much more rewarding even if you waste few fishes here and there...Congratulations!
