CBS/Paramount Sue Axanar

This will be interesting. Alex pushed the boundaries like a child and lawyers smell money.

Im not sure whats worse, this Alex fella getting in trouble with CBS. Or you frequenting websites devoted to 'Classic Star Trek News, Props and Costumes'.:rotfl2: j/k

Keeps me busy and it's fun, plus you have something real when done. Gameplay feels like a waste of time to me now for the most part.

Darn it, I liked where Axanar was going, it was a lot more faithful to the canon than Abrams two films, but yeah Alex screwed up, big time. Let's hope that this serves as a warning but not a discouragement to the other fan stories out there who are keeping us tided over during this decent Trek dry spell.

I agree with Wrath of Dhan though. If you are going to make money off of it, get a license.

I've been reading the Axanar site. Yes it is interesting, but boy does this Alex Peters love himself?

Betonov 12-31-15 06:45 AM

Except that a licence would be half the budget.
But then again I also agree that dues should be payed but these corporations will make unreasonable demands as always and in the end we will suffer because we won't see this movie we're so excited about....

Arghhhhhh, I'm so torn apart by this.

Jimbuna 12-31-15 07:08 AM

Interesting times ahead then.

XabbaRus 12-31-15 07:15 AM

Well I watched the trailer they made. Certainly interesting and follows on well from TOS.

Maybe they can come to some arrangement. I was reading the comments on youtube that is could be a ploy by CBS/Paramount to appropriate the idea.

Buddahaid 12-31-15 01:47 PM

From Adam Schneider who had galileo restored and donated to NASA.

"...I don't think the timing is an accident. I understand they're just about to "start shooting" so money is where it is, and the sets are ready. The studios certainly do not want shooting to begin as then the product, even if incomplete or just a few scenes (like the Vulcan scene) will likely get out. That forces a corporation's timing.

I work with large companies all the time. You can also assume this is not out of the blue, and that any large corporation would rather negotiate than sue. There's most history here than "they sued"... there's likely a series of conversations where they kept disagreeing.... "

And now it has come to this......the bunker.

Word has come through that the lawsuit against Axanar has been dropped.

Buddahaid 05-21-16 02:59 PM

Not dropped but in a settlement stage as I understand it. If both parties can agree to settlement terms then the suit will be dropped, in not, then the suit goes to trial.

Buddahaid 05-25-16 06:30 PM

Well the suit will go on as Peter's has filed a counter suit.
