WWII Dog-tag found and returned

Don't know if this has been posted here already (didn't see it in a search).

An eleven-year-old (Edoardo Sor) spotted a dog-tag while diving and it has been returned to the family.

It says the soldiers body was never recovered. I wonder if a search near where the tag was found would produce some remains.

Metal gear should remain, a good sweep with a detector could be done.
Getting permission to dig from the owner is another thing, since there will be a lot of false readings and the only way to check is to dig at every bleep.

Edit: still possible in water, just a looooot more difficult and you need to search a bigger area. No fussing with owners though.

Depends on what the local tides and sea life have been up to. That shallow, human remains should survive, but they'd be dispersed unless the body was buried by wave action fairly quickly.:hmmm:

...and don't forget, crabs and other marine wildlife will make off with fleshy bones.
