How will this PC handle ARMA 3?
Hey guys,
I'm building a gaming PC, and I have been wanting to be able to play ARMA 3 on it. Will this handle it with ultra graphics and 60 fps? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VJcBCJ Thanks everyone. |
How about ARMA 2? I suppose it will run better then 3, correct?
|
EDIT: Should I use an Intel or an AMD? I guess it is mostly performance/price, right?

Any answers would be nice :D
Take your time |
I've always been an nVidia guy myself. I am out of touch with latest developments lately because I have no desire to spend $600 for a graphics card that might give me a 50% improvement.

Holy cow! I was looking at graphics cards last night and didn't even think of you, Ramius. Just shoot me! Let me look up the article and link.
The takeaway from the article was don't take all the crap being tossed back and forth by nVidia and AMD fanbois too seriously. Both make good cards and bad cards. Your focus should be on value: the performance/cost ratio. Then the article leaves you in the dark about what the best cards are for that. Still a very interesting article with some links for more information. Toms Hardware has been my goto for graphics card lowdown since 2007. Here's the Holy Grail for the info you seek. |
Your specs look good to me but, I do not play Arma so I really can not say how well it would play with those specs. I did find a forum thread at an ARMA 3 forum that might help you out. https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/18...-be-like-this/
It discuses the various factors that affect FPS in the ARMA 3 online game. I hope this helps you. |
I do believe that GPU may struggle with playing Arma II and Arma III, as both Arma's tend to run like trash even on the most powerful of machines, even on double SLI/Crossfire rigs it will run poorly.
Though Multiplayer in Arma II/III will always run poorly, due to Bohemia's godaweful optimization (If they even optimized it at all?) At best you should never expect more than 30-40 FPS on even the toughest of machines. Overall, the card is not bad, the processor is fine, and if a budget machine is what you are aiming for, this should fill the role just fine, but remember this, Arma runs poorly even on good machines, so don't be disappointed if it doesn't run to your desired level. Also, I suggest waiting for Arma II and III coming on sale, as I wouldn't really buy it myself for the current prices. |
