TWoS questions
Just some situations here:
how real could it be to be assigned for my first mission at British Coastal..... being ordered to patrol certain grid for 48h and before the first 24, I encountered so many lonely ships or by groups of two, that I had to go back to port without being able to patrol de 48? It looked like a shooting arcade here :o And the other one: Is there any weather bug? I have had for more than 48h the same annoying 60m/s wind and it wll never stop until I am really close to port. Thanks! |

Hi LCQ_SH
The EBCW does not finish ubtil 1st December 1939 so you have plenty of time to do a number of patrols. The weather in the North Sea could be quite ferocious and you are not yet in the winter period when it is at its worst. So you can expect many days of bad weather including fog. The game does not save the weather so cheating by reloading the game again may give you a change in the weather. If you are using map contacts do not sink any ships in green as these are neutrals and the game will penalize you for doing it. Any ship on your way to your patrol grid should be considered as fair game. The patrol grids on EBCW are 48 hours long and need to be completed in full without making a manual save. You will receive a radio message when nearing the patrol area. Peter |
Well, the thing is that all of them were British flagged. Worst thing is that after I ran out of fishes, I found another u-boat telling me a convoy was closed haha.
The thing is that in less than 24h, I ran out and I found less than 10 ships. Is this somehow normal? I got lucky? The thing with the weather is that is really annoying, not because of the weather itself but because is so damn hard to recharge batteries as you have to order the chief to do so every 5 min. Anyway it can be sorted out? Ah, and another one which I am curious about. How accurate are the depths in the game, lets say in the north sea? Is it real that 300km away from land, the depth would be only of 45-60 m? That kind of depth will make me think twice to fight against a DD. I will give it a try sometime though but I am just curious. Many thanks. |

You will notice in your message box when dived how much distance there is left under your keel. Quote:

Thnx for the clarifications.
Another one, I just lost the deadline of the "breaking the fortress" (or however it is called), didn't know until later that I could change the bunker date of departure :/\\!! haha. So I went there, killed the BB and got out (however the mission is not activated). I am not planning it to do it again, it was a long mission. Does it matter or will it affect somehow if I finish this campaign with one incomplete mission? o.O Thanks! |

There is no advantage in doing BTF as the DD's are quite dormant and the travelling time is also quite long. You are better off spending more time on BCW that you have requested and you will eventually get 3 patrol grids on this patrol before completing that objective which is worth 3 crew bonus points. On the 21st September North Western Approaches (NWA) will appear on the map so there are some much heavier targets in it. You can request either of these 2 as many times as you need. Quote:

Do you play your game with 100% realistic settings with Real Nav on board and without external views and auto target recognition cheat?:hmm2: 60m/s wind?! That's not enabled in WoS... |

Oops, well, at the end I got the tonnage of the BB haha. :arrgh!: My question was basically if I will be able to continue a normal carrier without officially completing (not having the check mark) the breaking the fortress mission. But as you are suggesting to ignore it, then I am thinking it doesn't matter hehe. Quote:
I am playing with 90% (I enjoy the views and just seen my tin can all the time will too boring, (I'm a gamer not a real sub captain xD) but I am not using the external views for hunting down ships), plus real nav and 100% manual targeting. I think I got lucky then, but as it was my very first patrol, since a very long time of not playing, I sank less than than half of all of those ships, but they seemed quite a lot for encountering them on the same perimeter in less than 24h. Now I am in another grid and I was not so lucky though haha. The 60 m/s wind is because of TWD patch, I think I will disable it. |

Don't forget that there is no simulation that can simulate "fear" so even with hardcore settings, the game may still look quite easy for experienced sub simmers. |

I was jut pointing out any skipper's wet dream of finding more than 7-8 ships in less than 24h in a perimeter no bigger than 80 km. It seemed to me a little bit unusual. Nothing to do with game difficulty. |
in WWII there was U-boat captains who never saw a enemy ship in they patrols the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic ocean is really big so u have damn high chance to pass any enemy ship especially when is bad weather or fog

does anybody has the mod/link for changing the hud style? The more compact one that has basically all of the engine and depth gauges at the left?
And does anybody know if it is possible to have two chronometers or to time two different torps at the same time? xD Tnx |
